About This Blog

WHAT IS THIS BLOG, GEORGE FOX’S 1660 CATECHISM FOR CHILDREN, ALL ABOUT
At a Quaker Meeting a long time ago I got a xerox of George Fox’s Catechism for Children, 1660. I have read and reread it over the years. It is a remarkable document which gives, in great detail, the "Truth," as Fox sees it on many subjects. Fox never writes something once when he can write it many times. After you read about a certain idea many times, it becomes clearer.
Fox writes of many things but principally the Catechism is about Christ the Light. His passionate love and great insight into the nature of the Light.

The first part of the blog is a summary of the Catechism.

The second is a series of questions which are intended to clarify this summary. Where part of an answer or the whole answer is marked "note," I did not feel that I had adequately answered the question from the Catechism. So I have added material from Fox’s Pastoral Letters.

The third is the Catechism itself:
  • Twenty-nine pages which are quite clear.
  • One hundred and forty-seven pages of the Catechism, divided into two sections (p. 1-101 and p. 102-147). Not as clear as the twenty nine-page document.
  • The first part of the longer version (p. 1-101) of the Catechism divided into three sections for ease in reading and to hurry the process up a bit.
This wasn’t completely successful but the reader does have several options to chose from.
If you are interested in what Fox and early Friends believed and what we still believe today, you are in for a real treat in getting acquainted with the Catechism for Children, 1660.
